With a rigid standard of excellence, and a true passion for what we do, we can help you find or breed a performance horse to suit your ambitions

Our History

Wedgetail Equine has been established to showcase the heritage station horse, Australia's own Colonial Warmblood, as a performance horse with superior temperament and athleticism.

Co-founded by Stefanie Winwood and Michael West, Wedgetail is working towards a bright future for Australia's own heritage performance horse.

Stefanie's equestrian involvement has spanned nearly her whole life, first in New Zealand, Europe and now Australia. After managing the stables at the Ecole D'Art Equestre (School of Equestrian Arts) in Ecublans, Switzerland under great riders and horseman from Zingaro and La Academe Equestre, Stefanie returned to the Southern Hemisphere with a love of both classical equitation and natural horsemanship, inspired to find a talented horse in a better tempered package.

Stefanie competes several of the Wedgetail Horses at EA Official Dressage and also some Show Hunter classes. In 2016 Stef, and Wedgetail's young rider will be aiming to campaign a show team of 5 horses.

Michael is passionate about the preservation of heritage bred station horses which have played such an integral part in Australia's history. Mike is himself a talented rider, but without competition ambitions. He has a passion for the physical, psychological and emotional development of horses and manages the youngstock at Wedgetail.

Both Mike and Stef are passionate about the rehabilitation of quality heritage bred wild horses.
